SOUND THERAPY
Sound therapy is a healing practice that uses sound and vibration to improve mental, emotional, and physical well-being.
Through a variety of techniques, sound therapy harnesses the frequencies and rhythms to induce relaxation, reduce stress, and promote holistic healing.
What will Gayla be using in our sessions?
Tibetan Singing Bowls: These metal bowls are struck or circled with a mallet to produce a calming, resonant sound that promotes relaxation and can help reduce pain or discomfort.
Gongs: The gongs produce deep, resonant tones and vibrations, often creating a meditative state and helping reduce anxiety and tension.
Chimes: Koshi, wind, and flow chimes
Other Instruments: Tingshas, rain sticks, or ocean drums
How does Sound Therapy work?
Vibration: Sound waves have vibrational properties that can affect both the mind and body. When sound waves pass through the body, they can stimulate cells and organs, aligning them with their natural frequencies.
Brainwave Entrainment: Certain sounds can synchronize brainwaves with specific frequencies. This process, called entrainment, can encourage brain states associated with relaxed attention (alpha waves), serious mental processing (beta waves), creativity or dreamlike state (theta waves), or sleep enhanced state or direct connection to Source (delta waves).
Resonance: A sound or vibration produced in one object that is caused by the sound or vibration produced in another object.
What are the most common benefits of Sound Therapy?
Stress Reduction: Calming sounds can lower cortisol levels, which helps reduce stress.
Improved Sleep: Relaxing frequencies or binaural beats are often used to improve sleep quality.
Pain Relief: Some sounds are thought to relieve chronic pain by reducing tension in the body.
Enhanced Focus and Creativity: Certain frequencies can encourage focus, creativity, and cognitive clarity.
Emotional Healing: The right sounds can help release pent-up emotions and foster a sense of peace and well-being.
